WINNER of the 2003 Ignatz Award for Best Graphic Novel!
" . . . a single-minded obsession with animation history informs this work even as its creator twists and tears that history into a new, hideous, and hilarious form. There’s a little bit of Roger Rabbit and a whole lot of Spinal Tap at work here. Twisted and dark, funny and frightening, this is a deliciously evil toon history that demands attention." -- Alan David Doane
Top Shelf is proud to present a very unique comics project. Through a series of never-before-seen interviews and rare photos, documentary-maker Rich Koslowski reveals the horrifying true story behind the Cartoon industry and our most celebrated cartoon actors -- the story that Hollywood doesn't want you to see. Told in the same style as a Ken Burns documentary, with interviews of 'toon stars today as well as historical "file footage" of the "early years," this work of fiction will forever change the way you think of those beloved characters in the white gloves. … Rich Koslowski has worked in the Animation and Comic Book industry for the past 12 years. Best known for his three-time, Eisner-nominated work on his self-published parody title "The 3 Geeks," this ground-breaking graphic novel is sure to appeal to everyone. -- 144 pages

by Alan Moore & Kevin O'Neill
Co-Published By Top Shelf Productions & Knockabout
CHAPTER TWO takes place almost sixty years later in the psychedelic daze of Swinging London during 1968, a place where Tadukic Acid Diethylamide 26 is the drug of choice, and where different underworlds are starting to overlap dangerously to an accompaniment of sit-ins and sitars. The vicious gangster bosses of London's East End find themselves brought into contact with a counter-culture underground of mystical and medicated flower-children, or amoral pop-stars on the edge of psychological disintegration and developing a taste for Satanism. Alerted to a threat concerning the same magic order that she and her colleagues were investigating during 1910, a thoroughly modern Mina Murray and her dwindling league of comrades attempt to navigate the perilous rapids of London's hippy and criminal subculture, as well as the twilight world of its occultists. Starting to buckle from the pressures of the twentieth century and the weight of their own endless lives, Mina and her companions must nevertheless prevent the making of a Moonchild that might well turn out to be the antichrist.

While the 2008 Presidential election was viewed by many as a turning point, it is uncertain how the policies of the new government will unfold -- but the message people have sent is clear: after 28 years of right wing dominance in U.S. politics, Americans are unhappy with the results. We find that our country is distressed, economically, ecologically and militarily. WW3 illustrated is asking that artists do more than just criticize things as they are. Three years ago, an alien race of shape-changing robots came to Earth, fired ray guns at each other for a while, then gave up and flew away. But they left behind one thing: Shootertron, the cunning leader of the evil Fantasticons! Fortunately for Earth, Shootertron's memory is a little fuzzy. Unfortunately for Earth, the rest of the Incredible Change-Bots seem to be on their way back...
It's all-new action, drama, and comedy as Shootertron struggles to find an identity on Earth and the rest of the Change-Bots struggle to accomplish much of anything. Praise for previous work by Stuart Immonen: "Subtle characterizations are ably articulated in expressive line work." -- Booklist
Top Shelf is proud to welcome Kathryn & Stuart Immonen (Ultimate Spider-Man, Nextwave, Patsy Walker: Hellcat, Never as Bad as You Think) to the Top Shelf family with this very intimate story, set in World War II while the Nazis were pillaging much of Europe's great art collections. Moving Pictures is the story of the awkward and dangerous relationship between curator Ila Gardner and officer Rolf Hauptmann, as they are forced by circumstances to play out their private lives in a public power struggle. The narrative unfolds along two timelines which collide with the revelation of a terrible secret, an enigmatic decision that not many would make, and the realization that sometimes the only choice left is the refusal to choose.
In a recent interview at comicbookresources.com, Kathryn explained that "The history is just a backdrop to tell a messed-up love story that's about how we assign value to things and people, how we behave when not everyone is playing by the same rules" and "in the end, maybe it's all about the fundamentally perverse nature of desire, about not being to help wanting what you want even if you don't know why. And how, from the outside, we really don't know anything about someone else's intimacies." -- A 144-Page Graphic Novel with French Flaps, 5.75" X 8.25"

"Marshal Law is still my favorite comic book of all time." -- Mark Millar, author of Wanted
"The sharpest, most vindictive superhero satire out there." -- The List
"Intelligent, thought provoking and extremely funny. Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neill are two of the greatest comic book writers/illustrators alive today." -- Nick Smithson, Sci-Fi-Online.com
"Some of them think 'cause they're superheroes they're above the law. It's my job to change their thinking. ... Sometimes this can prove fatal." -- Marshal Law
At long last, Top Shelf presents a revolutionary epic over twenty years in the making: THE MARSHAL LAW OMNIBUS -- a super-deluxe definitive collection of the groundbreaking series by British comics legends Pat Mills (JUDGE DREDD, CHARLEY’S WAR) and Kevin O'Neill (LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN). This legendary graphic novel one-ups Watchmen, going beyond superhero deconstruction to full-on superhero demolition. -- Full-Color, Deluxe Oversized Hardcover, 512 pages, 7 5/8" x 11 3/4"
In a twisted, decadent future not so far away, the city once called San Francisco is now a war zone. The government has commissioned living weapons of mass destruction to wage war on terror. The survivors return home broken, bitter, insane… and almost unstoppable. Some form gangs, some go psycho. Some turn into A-list celebrities with A-bomb fists.
Only one man knows the dark secrets these so-called "heroes" are hiding. Only one man has the power to take on America’s best and brightest and bring them to justice. His eyes will reflect the rocket's red glare. He is the twilight's last gleaming. He is… MARSHAL LAW.

"This impressive collection—a high-water mark in the graphic novel’s short history—confirms that no one else in the medium combines emotional truth, literary intelligence, and formal daring with such adroitness and elegance." -- Booklist (starred review)
"Witty and thoughtful ... a great and epic comic documentary novel like no other." -- Publishers Weekly (starred review)
"The fact that we are finally able to watch young Alec slowly evolve, page by page, from a cheeky wastrel into a mature artist deeply committed to his work and his family is nothing less than a revelation ... the three decades of mature, complex and emotionally compelling work compiled here represent a major accomplishment in comics storytelling, and in storytelling, period. It's nothing less than a modern epic of the everyday." -- Glen Weldon, NPR
"A profound piece ... Campbell makes it feel like the greatest adventure imaginable." -- Alex Pappademas, GQ
"Eddie Campbell’s Alec stories were among the first of the modern era of autobiographical comics, and they still rate among the best—witty, brilliantly illustrated, self-mocking without ever being mopey or pathetic, and most importantly, forever changing style to suit the needs of the story... Watching Campbell’s storytelling and approach to art progress and evolve as these stories unfold is as close as you can get to watching a real human life change on the page. One of the must-own releases of the year." -- The AV Club
"If autobiography is the lingua franca of the graphic novel form, Campbell is its undisputed Shakespeare." -- Richard Pachter, Miami Herald
"ALEC is magic, and even if I knew how all of it was done I'd be doing you a disservice if I pointed out the wires and mirrors. ... It is written by someone who obviously finds being alive an endless source of novelty and conundrum." -- Alan Moore
"Do you need me to tell you how good Eddie Campbell is? Or that ALEC is probably the best book-length comic about art and wine and midlife crises and families and friends and wine and love and art and saying goodbye and terror there is?" -- Neil Gaiman
For the first time ever, the groundbreaking autobiographical comics of master cartoonist Eddie Campbell (FROM HELL) are collected in a single volume!
Brilliantly observed and profoundly expressed, the ALEC stories present a version of Eddie's own life, filtered through the alter ego of "Alec MacGarry." Over many years, we witness Alec's (and Eddie's) progression "from beer to wine" -- wild nights at the pub, existential despair, the hunt for love, the quest for art, becoming a responsible breadwinner, feeling lost at his own movie premiere, and much more! Eddie's outlandish fantasies and metafictional tricks convert life into art, while staying fully grounded in his own absurdity. At every point, the author's uncanny eye for irony and wry self-awareness make even the smallest occasion into an opportunity for wit and wisdom. Quite simply, ALEC is a masterpiece of visual autobiography.
ALEC: THE YEARS HAVE PANTS (A LIFE-SIZE OMNIBUS) collects the previous Alec books THE KING CANUTE CROWD, GRAFFITI KITCHEN, HOW TO BE AN ARTIST, LITTLE ITALY, THE DEAD MUSE, THE DANCE OF LIFEY DEATH, AFTER THE SNOOTER, as well as a generous helping of rare and never-before-seen material, including an all-new 35-page book, THE YEARS HAVE PANTS. -- Softcover Graphic Novel with French Flaps, 640 pages, 7 1/2" x 10"

"Kindt’s fluid outlines, thick swatches of color fill-in, sleek figures, and predominant subdued duotone coloring effectively conjure the ambiguous living hell that crushes the characters’ zeal while it forces them to go on until they’re stabbed, knifed, poisoned, or shot. [Super Spy] rivals the power of the most complex and serious spy novels and films." --Booklist (starred review)
"Matt Kindt's work on SUPER SPY blows my mind. The elegance of his art, juxtaposed with his rich character work and complex narrative -- is nothing short of genius. The Spy genre is so well traveled, that sometimes it feels like everything's been done before. But Matt Kindt's SUPER SPY proves that something new is always possible; if you unleash your passion, vision, and talent. Read SUPER SPY! Read 2 SISTERS! Read PISTOLWHIP! Buy Matt's art! I have. THE SWEDISH INVASION!
"The 120 Days of Simon is an alternately charming, funny and aggravating four month journal of a self-advertised, couch-surfing freeloader. Highly recommended!" -- Peter Bagge
The 120 Days of Simon began when Swedish cartoonist/rapper Simon Gärdenfors left his home to spend four months on the road. The rules were simple: For 120 days he wasn't allowed to return to his home, or to spend more than two nights at the same place. Otherwise, anything could happen... and it did.
This simple idea grew into an epic adventure across Sweden as Simon slept on strangers' couches, visited an ostrich farm, ate a psychedelic cactus, practiced free love, received death threats, was beaten up by teenagers, got adopted by a motorcycle gang, drank obscene amounts of alcohol, and sacrificed his underpants to the Nordic god Brage. And that's just for starters!
When this graphic novel was released in Sweden, it created a bit of a scandal. Some readers wanted to punch Simon in the face, while others hailed him as a hero. Top Shelf is proud to present this all-too-human journey to an English-speaking audience. … A graphic novel packaged in the style of a traditional pulp novel. -- A 416-Page Graphic Novel packaged in the style of a traditional pulp novel, 4.25" x 7"

“The brilliance of Mats Jonsson’s comics is knowing just how funny some of the most pathetic moments of adolescence can be, and not being afraid to share those, no matter how ridiculous it makes him look.” --Jeffrey Brown, author of Clumsy and Funny Misshapen Body
“Hey Princess is an excruciatingly honest autobiographical story, full of unrequited love, jealousy, envy and ambition. The world has not seen anything like this since the heyday of Peepshow by Joe Matt.” --Fredrik Strömberg, author of The Comics Go to Hell and Swedish Comics History
“Reading Hey Princess makes you question if ‘love’ is worth all the aggravation, humiliation and pain. And the answer is yes, because otherwise we wouldn’t have books like these.” --Martin Kellerman, author of Rocky
Hey Princess is a story about moving to the big city and being young, insecure and desperate to feel as hip as everyone else.
Originally published in Sweden, Hey Princess received praise from both critics and readers for its incisive and entertaining account of indie pop-listening young people in the mid-1990s.
Hey Princess takes its place in the proud tradition of self-deprecating, confessional, sex-obsessed and guilt-ridden autobiographical comics, but stakes out a unique identity by virtue of its Nordic setting and biting social criticism. … This seminal book in the thriving Swedish indie comics scene is a graphic novel packaged in the style of a traditional pulp novel. -- A 472-Page Graphic Novel packaged in the style of a traditional pulp novel, 4.25" x 7"

The Playwright rather enjoys a quiet moment in the local park. It is a good place to mentally sort his ideas, and is often frequented by pretty young ladies. He once saw a pigeon defecate onto a businessman's shoulder. It struck him as absurd that such an event is often considered lucky. Surely the luck lies with passers-by who, statistically, are far less likely to be similarly soiled at that precise moment. Similarly, the Playwright has always derived an almost perverse sense of relief upon receiving news that an old friend has developed prostate cancer. Because statistically, he reasons, such news significantly reduces the chances of him being similarly afflicted. And to be honest, at his age, his prostate needs all the statistical support he can muster...

People have described The Bojeffries Saga as being about "urban decay" or "the demise
of the nuclear family," as if getting a handle on this oblique entity would somehow make it fair game for intellectual scrutiny. But what the Bojeffries set out to do was simply poke fun at
the British -- which is what the British do best.
This edition includes the evolutionary development of the principal characters, as well as an all-new story (as if the Bojeffries were living in modern times). Alan and Steve both agree that modern Britain is on a fast track to nowhere, yet Alan's affectionate and penetrating understanding of human nature creates a kind of desperate poignancy in the characters; and Steve's deft and articulate line work brilliantly echos this throughout the collection.
It's all there, untutored, unpolished, ramshackle and always on the edge of collapse. Very much like Britain itself.

THE SWEDISH INVASION!
"So can comics in a cold climate prosper? Yes, they can still root, send up fresh shoots and eventually sprout and blossom, providing they get the right nurturing care and soil conditions. Thanks to support from cities and the state, from feisty publishers like Galago, the excellent school in Malmö, Stockholm's buzzing SPX festival and comics library, and above all with the drive to experiment and find their own voices, Swedish talents seem uniquely placed to flower and flourish. Step inside - their secret garden is a secret no more." -- Paul Gravett
The exploding evolution of the Swedish comics scene demands a second volume of the Northern Lights anthology. Never before has this much talent been brewing so close to the arctic circle, and both the media and readers of the world are starting to take notice. This volume gathers the work of Marcus Ivarsson, Sofia Olsson, Sara Granér, Kobeinn Karlsson, Anneli Furmark and many, many more.
