Pete Sickman-Garner
Pete Sickman-Garner was born into a closed religious community in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He and his older sister were raised by missionary parents dedicated to bringing word of the one true G-D to the darkest corners of the globe. A brief affair with his animist nanny forced a family rift (they were later reconciled in a ceremony televised nationally on the 700 Club) and he spent his teenage years in Lusaka, Zambia waiting tables by day and soaking up the rich, cultural heritage in the bars and cafes at night. He made his way to Kuwait in 1991 and, hopping a ride with the 82nd Airborne, he returned to the States to begin a life of cartooning and scrimshaw just as the first Gulf War was coming to an end. While scrimshaw pays the bills, drawing comics will always be his first love. [Editor's Note -- And we all eagerly await the next installment of Hey, Mister.]
