Daniel Hicks, biographer of British cartoonist Arthur Holly (creator of the gently whimsical, much-loved children's strip George) assumed he knew everything there was to know about the old man. But now Holly is dead and in his will he's left Daniel the key to a locked wardrobe in the corner of his studio. Inside the wardrobe Daniel discovers a huge body of work he never knew existed -- fifty years of secret unpublished erotic comics. For the next few days Daniel explores these 'secret comics' with the help of Jill (who's been sorting out Holly's papers for a children's museum). Together, they struggle to make sense of this hidden side of Holly's life and art and its implications. But as the intensity of the comics grows, so does the tension between Daniel and Jill.
